I have noticed at the air pumps here in Houston, the lock is what gets me.? It's a cylindrical hunk of steel on the side is like an insert of steel. but it don't slide out, the cylinder don't rotate, and I don't believe it's magnetically removed. How does that work. It's bothered me for yrs, now I got someone to ask, I wanna take advantage of it.
Re: something's been buggin' me.
take a picture otherwise we have no clue what you're talking about.
The code is hidden in the tumblers. One position opens the lock, another position opens one of these doors...

Re: something's been buggin' me.
look underneath the bottom of the stainless "cylinder" for a keyway...sounds like a puck lock from what you describe
Re: something's been buggin' me.
Yeah I was going to say the same thing as Awol, sounds like a puck.
Btw Awol...awesome new signature!

Naaapaalm...sticks to kids...it sticks to the belly and it sticks to the ribs...
See those kids standing by the lake...drop some napalm and watch them bake.

I also vote puck lock. Although what do you mean by "the cylinder doesn't rotate"? Of course it doesn't lol, it's locked.
Re: something's been buggin' me.
Not accusing you of anything but what do you mean by "I wanna take advantage of it"?

i think he means he wants to take advantage of having someone knowledgeable to ask.
Re: something's been buggin' me.
yeah your right, i was sort of reading it like it was two separate sentences
Re: something's been buggin' me.
awol was right that is what I meant, "by take advantage of it". Knowledge, and experience are awesome, when you have someone willing to share them. It does wonders.
Ok. Now imagine a puck lock set in a piece of pipe guard with a slot cut along the side. so the guard looks like a "c" the puck is in the middle of the "c". where the slot is should be a keyway. however, it's not. instead there is a solid "plug" but this thing has to open somehow? I'm baffled?

Re: something's been buggin' me.
that's strange. I think we'll need to see a real picture of it to be able to try to figure it out. I did a little searching on Google but didn't find anything like it.
Re: something's been buggin' me.
i gotta say , that is EXACTLY how a puck lock would be secured.
perhaps the red plug is a weatherguard?
your drawing gets the idea across quite well.
