Meilink safe company still in business?

I have an older Melink combo fire safe that is locked, and I don't have the combo. I've looked all over the net for them and can't find a trail to them to see if I can get the combo. I'm trying to manipulate the lock (it's my first other than school locker combos). So far I haven't had much time to devote to the project, from work (dentistry) and ranching every weekend ! All I get is links to FireKing and they don't claim to know anything about the Melink Co.

Thanks for your help!

As far as I know, they are long out of business. Fireking bought the name.

that's correct, fireking absorbed meilink and no,they don't keep records of combos due to liability concerns.

Pictures would be great if you get a chance...have you determined the type of fence yet? That makes a big difference in the manipulation.

Here's my first shot at posting pics. Didn't have any full views. I'll get some this weekend and try to get them up.

I can't be sure but I'm pretty sure that some of these used Sargent & Greenleaf locks on them. That dial looks like it could be an S&G dial, but I'll let the experts chime in.

Funny, I was going to chime in S&G also, but everything begins to look like S&G when that is all you've seen.
It doesn't look like a LaGard or Mosler, so...

Re: Meilink safe company still in business?

I don't know anything about your safe other than what you have posted.
Sorry.

Do you have experience in safe manipulation?

There are members here that have the ability to help you.

Maybe try some old factory default combos.IE. 25-50-75, 50-50-50.

You know how many wheels?

Direct entry?

Control points?

Any false gates?

I'm new to manipulation. So I will be watching and learning.

Some reading might help you, to explain what type of safe you have.

I Suggest Daggers Little book. Safecracking For Everyone. And National locksmith Guide to manipulation.

Armed with some basic knowledge and terminology, will increase your chances for success.

Best of luck.

Re: Meilink safe company still in business?

If I had a full pic of the safe I might be able to at lease get you a model number ;)
from what I have read some models of Meilink safes used a imitation S&G lock and some used real S&G locks. (Group 2 locks)
I know its not alot of info but I hope that helps some.
