Tested a couple of homebrew picks
Function rather than beauty for me, a little butter or paint type knife, cost 50p and I gave it a try because it already had a handle fitted, and a little penknife from bangood that has made a nice little folding pocket pick that can become my keyring if I wish, Popped a couple of little Asec 5 pin roller shutter bullet locks with each of them as a test. the key one especially is surprisingly nice to hold and use

Were these locks prone to the bypass? Nearly every one of these shutter locks I have seen are...
Didn't try to bypass them as was just testing the picks, but would suspect so, will check them when I get the chance


Regarding Mul-T-Locks; the inner pins can only ever be +/- 1 cut away from the outer pin. Or level, of course.

I picked an Abus 80TI/50 today. My first abus picked. I bypassed a couple in the past, but hey, that's too easy on the titaliums!

After picking through my Abloy Classic locks a few weeks ago I decided to start on a different tool for the Abloy DiskLock. I finished making the tool last week and for the last few nights been trying to get it picked. Finally today I got the lock open. I found it to be harder to pick than the Classic, mostly due to the fact only limited torque can be applied to the 1.3 mm diameter shaft of the tensioner. If I could apply more torque to the tensioner I feel that identifying false vs true gates would become easier. Right now I only have this one DiskLock but in the next week should be getting a few more. While waiting for the other DiskLocks to arrive I plan to make a second tool with some improvements in design and depth/space markings on the handle of the tensioner.

Yes, prior to making the tool I disassembled this lock to get a better look at how it works. The most noticeable difference between this and the Classic is the return bars which allow the lock to be opened CW or CCW. There are two tension discs or 0 cuts in the lock that rotate the return bars, once the return bars are fully rotated in either direction torque is applied to the plug. This lock also uses alternating sized spacers. The copper colored spacers are 0.59 mm and the black are 0.49mm.

All that is needed is to rotate the second tension disc with the pick while using the tensioner to tension the rear tension disc. Thankfully it's easy to identify the second disc by feel with the the pick (It's narrower in the middle than the others). Once that second tension disc is rotated you only need to apply tension to the rear disc since now that the return bars are fully rotated. I took some photos last week to illustrate what is happening to the return bars when just the rear disc is tensioned, and when the second tension disc is rotated while applying tension to the rear disc.

Since today is a certain famous Austrian guy's birthday, I figured I should dig out some Austrian locks and re-pick them!
("The greatest trick the Austrians ever pulled off was to convince the world that Mozart was Austrian and that Hitler in fact was German.")

The left one is almost too easy. With proper tool choice, the profile isn't really an obstacle at all. It does make setting the spools somewhat tricky, but they are the first two pins so even then it's not exactly hard.
The right one is a real PITA though! Really tight profile. Plus this lock is all old, worn, and dirty. Even after a good cleaning the pins really don't move smoothly. Even the plug rotation itself is all grimed up - to the point I didn't realize at first that I had actually picked it.

Good work on the Disclock GreenGrow! Wait until you get some with nastier warding. With Disclock you have the (relative) luxury of being able to move the discs in both directions too, so you can wiggle and get false/real gate info easier. It still takes some hard work to get the picking tip right though. Nice job.
