flea market find

Wasted a few hours on Sunday at a car show and flea market. Lots of really cool restorations and street rods, unfortunately I didn't bring a camera. After looking at the cars for several hours, I strolled through the flea market, what was left of it, as it was late on the second day. I saw a vendor I knew who had several tables full of mostly junk, but he had 1 box with a bunch of padlocks in it. I asked him what he wanted for the padlocks, $1 each was all he wanted. I grabbed 3 that were interesting and smiled all the way home.

Man, you robbed that guy! Why can't I find stuff like that? probably because there are no flea markets close enough for me to go to

Re: flea market find

Aw come on Gordon, Ya trying ta make me feel bad ?? I asked, he gave the price, I paid. He was happy to get rid of his "junk", I was tickled to help him out. Actually the box of padlocks was in a pile of stuff he bought on a auction of the Peterson Vise Grip factory when they shut down. He told me he didn't even know they were in the mix till he got home and started sorting out his buys. He said he was going to toss the whole box and decided at the last minute to bring it along and try and sell it at the flea market. I'm glad he did. I asked if he had any others at home, but these and a few rusty cheap masters without keys were all he had.

Re: flea market find

nice finds there oldbiscuit. ive gone to a few tag sales over the past f weeks looking for locks. ive had no luck except for one guy who bids on storage units. he holds a tag sale once a month at his home. i asked him last weekend if he had any locks for sale and he said "yeah! i got a whole box of em. i just can't find the box right now, it's buried somewhere but when i find it i'll set them aside for you."

my phone hasn't left my side since that day...still waiting.....

A guy's gotta get lucky once in a while  most times I pay out the ass for a lock when I find one I want.
