Kwikset Smartkey padlock

I just saw a picture of one on a Facebook locksmith page. The guy who posted it was at Lowes and they are selling for about $17. Has anyone else seen these? I would kind of like to get one to dissect.

Just when you think you've learned it all, that is when you find you haven't learned anything yet.

I have seen the Master Lock padlocks like that in catalogs etc. But I had never heard of Kwikset making its own padlocks until now.

So what happens when you lose the key to this lock? :soldier: :hammering:
unless you can decode or pick it.........I don't see how you would reset it.

Probably the same thing with most other cheap padlocks. Cut it off and replace it, if it's unlocked then just replace it. It's not that keys can't be made for cheap padlocks, but it usually costs more than a new lock.

If it's important to make the existing key for whatever reason, I've been decoding Smartkey locks with ease for years.
