Found a picture of what the inside of the core looks like!

Image

It looks like the chain snakes back and forth in the core~ No wonder the keyway is curved!

Now we just need to develop a Chain pick! How cool would that be!!??

This lock is pretty sweet, wouldnt mind having one myself. An interesting concept i wonder just how curved the keyways get.

Thought I would make a quick video in case anyone wanted to see it in action:

Glad you shot a vid of it! Really very interesting to see in action. THANKS!

Very cool concept.... well, obviously more than a concetpt - they made it work.
I also wonder about the longevity of the key and/or lock. Wonder if there's any
common problems that occur over time with em'. Either way.... VERY cool.

So do you use an HPC 1200 punch machine to cut that key?
Seems like the chain would snap into pieces.

Re: Padlock with a "soft key". I'm confused!

The key cutting machine holds the base of the key blade, which keeps the blank in place (like a normal blank).

The lock in my collection with this type of key comes with a thin metal strip cut to the shape of the key bitting. You use this as the 'master' key to duplicate.

Cut it slowly, and it should work.

The keys, from what I understand, are rather breakable if you are not careful to use the key properly. And if you see a link breaking, for goodness sake, don't put it into the lock. If it breaks off inside the lock, you got problems. Have yet to see a key extractor that would work in this lock!!!
