Re: Convertible Tubular
I had one I just sold a week ago.
But here's one: http://lockpicksandtools.com/index.php? ... &Itemid=53
At least, I assume that's what you're referring to, you were kind of vague.

Re: Convertible Tubular Pick
Wow, where are you finding ten-pin tubular locks? Those aren't terribly common.

Petersons has changeable tips
Re: Convertible Tubular Pick
I think the tubular locks even come in 12 pin, at least thats what I remember last time I looked at a convertible pick at www.stevearnolds-gunroom
which I think is now a dead link but might be on google archives.
there also might be a photo of one like that here in some thread, the best search term would be 'pickmasters' tubular

Re: Convertible Tubular Pick
You'll be lucky to find a tubular pick that converts from a 7/8 pin to a 10 pin! Different pin spacings!
I still can't find a 12 pin version anywhere, if anyone sees one please let me know. The closest I've gotten is converting a 10 pin (which works ok, just a pain in the arse). The Petersen Pro-1 only goes up to 8 pins.
Incidentally, I think I'm right in saying that an 8 pin will do 7, 7 left offset, 7 right offset and 8 pin. 10 pin will do 6 pin (well, one I know of anyway).
Presuming the inside diameter is the same, what if you made a pick with a full circumference of little pins (maybe 15 or so) that would then work on ANY number pins? With a locking ring too...That'd work, right?

Re: Convertible Tubular Pick
Who does make the one TOOOL sells? I mean I know they don't make it ... they're just selling it. I was looking at that just a little bit ago and trying to figure out if their price was fair, or if I could get it cheaper directly from the manufacturer (but I don't know who that is).

Here is the pic of the convertible pick on the TOOOL website.

Here is the page for the 7 pin pick on the Southern Specialties site.

Compare. They look virtually identical to me. However, if you look at the pic of the convertible pick on the Southern Specialties site, the handles of the two convertible picks aren't the same.

I just bought one of these convertible picks directly from Southern Specialties two or three weeks ago, and it came with the silver colored handle with flat sides, not the black cylindrical one.
My guess is, the pick on the TOOOL site is made by Southern Specialties. TOOOL is either using the wrong file image for the pick in their shopping cart, or they requested a special production run of convertible picks with the black handle of their standard 7 and 8 pin picks.
But that's just a guess.
Re: Convertible Tubular Pick
I'm confused now...
It does look just like the Southern Specialties pick. The description on TOOOL clearly says that it converts from 7 to 8 pins. However, SS sells the one you linked with the silver handle - but they also sell a 7 and 8 pin set - 2 picks.

I think I'll go with the 2 pick set directly from SS...
