IC Tensioners from Peterson

I was curious if any members have use these https://www.thinkpeterson.com/i_core.html and what kind of success rate they yield? Are they worth the purchase?

As mac has mentioned, others seem to have luck with them. Never tried the Peterson ones but the ones i make work fine for certain keyways.

I have them. Never picked anything with them. I do well with heavy tension from a Peterson Prybar.

Not worth the money. Somebody sent the set to me, and I sent it to Xeo. None of us liked them.

Re: IC Tensioners from Peterson

What Riyame said. They're horrendous. They require an intense amount of finagling to even make somewhat viable and by the time you're done screwing around you have little to no pick room left. A cool concept in theory but requires a redesign. I wasn't able to ever get them to actually tension the control sleeve. They always ended up applying tension as normal.

Re: IC Tensioners from Peterson

For this price, you can take your any tension tool you have and make your own just to see if it will work for you. Search this site because someone made a good write up about a home brew with all necessary dimensions.

It also very much depends on the keyway because the tools little teeth need to grab that sleeve which is tiny so it all has to line up. I made my own tool like this and have had no success. I plan on making another one just to be sure they dont work becuase I wasnt happy with my first tool.

Re: IC Tensioners from Peterson

I gave these another shot recently, and got them to work. It does take a lot of finagling like Xeo said on some keyways, but it's decent enough. I kinda wish they were a flat design like the prybar wrenches. That might work a little better.
