Do you think that part of the difference in feel and the difficulty that everyone had is because the groove doesn't go all the way down the key pins? What I'm thinking is that maybe in the process of rotating, the pin gets lifted past the point of the sidebar groove thus causing confusion. Of course that theory should only apply when trying to set a pin rotationally before the driver has been set to shear otherwise you would be over-setting the stack...just a thought.

That's probably part of it. But I know that some of the guys don't use a groove grabber anyways. The main difference in the feel of this lock, is in the way the cylinder is worn.
Yes that was a problem. Especially on the very last pin. Which happens to be the deepest cut. It seemed like every time I got to that pin it wasn't set rotationally and was locked up. As I rotated it I also ended up overlifting it. So it was still locked up. Just locked up on the shear line, of course I didn't know that, I still thought I hadn't gotten the angle right... At one point when I let it drop back down (which I had done a number of times before on the wrong angle), it was finally on the right angle and I could finally figure out that it was a 6 depth. Figuring that out helped a lot.

Posted: Mon Nov 08, 2010 8:51 amGreat job man, that lock was very sinister. The ARX pins were not blocking my picking attempts, they won't raise high enough to catch on the sidebar fingers. The problem I was having was because the lock was so worn, the feedback was all fucked up. I had trouble telling if a pin was rotated correctly or not in some cases. Guess I was just unlucky.
