Yeah, either incense or a white powdery lubricant that I've never heard of. All through the lock and all over the key.

Ended up just flushing it all out with WD-40. I don't like mystery lubricants!

Could be powdered Teflon, Works like graphite, but less messy, I use it a lot.

Really? Powdered teflon, eh? I've seen it on Ebay, but like an idiot I never made the connection to use it as a lock lubricant.

In your opnion, is it better than the spray type of PTFE? How messy is it to handle - is it like graphite? How much and where else can I find it?

I think the spray type lubes are better, but it's a good thing to have in the tool box. It comes in a little squeeze bottle, like graphite, a lot of hobby stores carry it. No mess, even if you get some where it shouldn't be it just brushes off, no staining. Last time I bought any was years ago, think it cost two or three dollars for an ounce or so.

Regards,
Bob.

Mushrooms if i'm not mistaken. And the lower pins seems to have a single serration or something. I might diassamble and take some piccies for you. I haven't been giving this lock alot of time lately so may as well get some good out of it.
