MTL MT5+ Euro Cutaway

This came in the post this morning by the skin of its teeth, and a few other locks. The bag arrived split!! Fortunately everything is there safe so I went ahead and cut it away.

Needs finishing off, sanding down, polish etc. I'm just glad it went ok :)

I'm quite excited about it, I don't think there are all that many in existance.

Hintz - Could I suggest something in regards to polishing? Have you ever thought about using a brass case or lapidary polisher. You can use different polishing media to obtain different types of finishes on your metal parts.

Just throw your parts in the tumbler, let it do its job - drink a beer, smoke a cigarette - come back and it's done!

Just a thought. Beautiful work.

Like l0ckp1cker said, I do use a machine to do my cutaways. I'm going to try and sort out a gallery of all my cutaways to date. It must total about 60 odd now... I've got about 10 KG of brass swarf & amazingly have only used 2 x 6mm long series, 4 x 3mm short series, 5 x 1.5mm short series, & 1 x 1mm short series, for that many locks! I've bought 5 new 3mm cutters as they are my favorite, these news ones I used on the MT5 have given it such a clean edge.... it's made me think about how soon I change my cutters.

That sounds like a brilliant idea! One of them is definitely on the shopping list, because I do everything by hand otherwise. Cheers ;)
