Re: What have you NOT picked today?

I got a new lock for my front door the other day. I believe it's an ASSA Twin Combi 4800 series. The keyway looks really narrow (bottom right). I convinced the lock smith to let me keep my old cylinder, which is an older ASSA Twin Combi. The keyway on that one is very open, but I'm pretty sure there's a sidebar in there. So, now I have a real challenge on my hands :)

Re: What have you NOT picked today?

Is it the C10 one (4810/4820), the one with a 'maintenance mode' (By removing the key at the "10 o clock" position you allow access using a separate maintenance key)

In any case, I haven't had much luck with the Twin Combi with more than 2 side pins. Probably I need a different tool to poke/rotate the pins, and metal working isn't my strong side...

Re: What have you NOT picked today?

The key is only removable at 12 o'clock. It's master keyed, though. When I first started picking locks I got worried by how easy it was. I'm not so worried any more ;)

Re: What have you NOT picked today?

Master keyed? Eww. 3D printer + Decoded cylinder/Dayton method equals access to every apartment...
Hell, you probably wouldn't even need a 3D printer considering the simple profile. Just a piece of metal provided you have a key in the system to work the sidebar with...

This thing has been kicking sand in my teeth for a couple of days now. No matter how nicely I talk to those side pins, they just telling me to "talk to the hand".

AssaXV-10Xa.jpg

ASSA V-10
I did pick it open only to find it was missing the Side Bar and Side Bar Pins.
So the V-10 is still on the "TO DO" list.
