Re: Assa Desmo Gutted

I have never seen security pins like that before but of course I don't have an ASSA to take apart so that's probably why. Pretty cool man.

Every gutted ASSA lock I see on here looks like it would be a bitch to pick so I can't wait until I get to have a go at my first ASSA whenever that is.

Awesome lock, probably feels like picking two twin 6000 sidebars from the looks of those pins... I need to get one

The code is hidden in the tumblers. One position opens the lock, another position opens one of these doors...

Re: Assa Desmo Gutted

Just seen my first one of these today. What a cool lock! Has anyone picked one yet? It seems to me that you just (!) need to pick the 8 pins, the ball bearings are for key retention and the other 2 pins (horizontal) are passive. Like the Bilock, the pins can only be in 1 of 4 positions (or is it 2 with the Bilock?). Anyway, I want one to play with!

Re: Assa Desmo Gutted

So I got mine today (no key) but I don't see why this is so unpickable...I mean, I haven't picked it yet (aint had much time) but the lack of springs on the pins makes it feel like an EVVA 3KS (not picked one of those either, lol). So possible still IMO.

Why, is there something on the key that is crucial to opening it? Other than the cuts for the 8 pins of course? The cutout 'V' shaped bit in the middle is more passive isn't it? Or do you mean it'll be hard cos I can't see the bitting?
