Looks like another self impressioning tool. If it is, it 's the smallest I have seen so far.

Yeah, he's probably already been contacted by a number of organizations for the patent rights.

Re: abloy protec tool impressioning video link

I have been looking at these tools for some time now. They appear to have originated and can be purchased in Russia. They produce some quite spectacular results on double sided and complex safe locks. Would anyone be interested in a DIY article on making these tools ?.

Re: abloy protec tool impressioning video link

It is a bit 'Mickey Mouse' but I have added a page that covers the very basics of the subject. If you want to chew it over, perhaps we can take it further. Much depends upon what machinery is available to the individual and what locks you want to have a go at.

I have parked it at .....

Re: abloy protec tool impressioning video link

The Abloy tool looks very interesting. It would be nice to get a close up look at it or perhaps buy one.

I think that it would work on a standard lock and not just a cutaway. The little red line seems to be more for the purposes of the video rather than providing any help to the picker.
So is it just a series of little pins in that shaft ? When the tool is put in and pulled out of the lock, the pins don't seem symmetrical on each side.

Could it be that when the disc blocker is engaged, the discs that are not set somehow provide some feedback to change the pins in the tool ? Then when the tension is released and reapplied perhaps a few of the discs are closer to being set properly ? Once the discs are properly set, they must provide different feed back then not properly set disks so those pins don't move..

Very interesting..

For anyone unsure of how the Protec works, here is the write up by Han Fey from Toool.. http://toool.nl/images/8/8a/Abloypart3.pdf

Re: abloy protec tool impressioning video link

So has anybody heard anything more about this? I read your article Magic1, and it was great, but I'm still unclear how self-impressioning would work with a Protec.
