Assa V-10 Sidebar Codes

Real quick, does anyone have any kind of information on relating the three digit sidebar code to the actual heights of the sidebar cut? Also, does the V-10 only have one keyway? All the V-10's I have encountered all fit the same key. Is that just coincidence?

Sweet! Ironically I have downloaded this at some time before and have forgotten about it. Did he ever write part two?

Of course 42 is the answer, but what is the question?

Another excellent question.
And basicly what I gathered is there is scant correlation between 3 digit number and code. Basicly?

Correct. It is like the code on a Master padlock. It bears on relation to the actual bitting of the key/lock. It is a blind code.

I've been collecting pics and sidebar bittings for a little bit, but as they are not all that commonly used, can't really say my list is extensive. Also, it does not necessarily have to be a 3 digit code. Saw two keys a few days ago from 'out in the wild' that had a five digit code.

Have blanks for the following sidebar bittings:

346-51
390-51
C30
EC29
E148
347-51

And undoubtedly have cut keys in locks in the collection with other codes. So don't think the sidebar code has to be limited to 3 numbers, or even 3 digits.
