For a good 4 or 5 years now I've been seeing these everywhere (mainly on gamblers on video games) and I'm amazed by the lack of 1) information on the web about them and 2) the lack of any tools to open them. I've seen tools for 4 and 6 pin tubulars (a LOT less popular IMO) but never a 12 pin tubular pick.

Has anyone ever had to open one of these or ever tried?

cool... i dont have much practice on tubular locks... and have nothing to contribute other than it seems no harder to spp than any other tubular lock.

just because everyone uses quick fancy tubular picks does not meen that standard tools cannot open it...

and for reference i believe i have seen a 12 pin tubular pick somewhere... i dont remember where tho... ill search and get back to ya if i find it

I believe the big A1 brand pick, (the expensive one) will pick these, I know you can configure them for lots of options. I can't say as I have seen these anywhere here yet, most of the lottery machines and machines at the casino's use Medeco locks and not tubulars thats for around here anyway.

The only A1 picks I can find are for 7 pin and 8 pin (including 7 pin offset) picks. There's the Peterson Pro-1 which can be configured for lots of different things but ultimately it can't go above 8 pins (I think). Different shaped keyways, yes, but > 8 pins, no. Where's the expensive A1?

Southord do a 10 pin and I've seen 9,10 and 11 pin-in-pin type tubular lockpicks but 12 pins? In the UK they are everywhere.

I don't know where to get the one A1 that I have seen but it seems like it may work, has lots of different configurations, but maybe not, 12 pin seems unusual, may not be anybody that makes a pick for it yet.

The idea with these is you can use a change key to rotate the center thus allowing for 12 different keys to be used each one rotation out.
Or you could just file the pip off your existing key and use in any position Its some form of access control
