yeah master locks are junk. they are all easy to pick, right?
WRONG!
i finally got my hands on one of these key-retaining

monsters, and was confronted with a bitting
DSC05166.JPG
and keyway/warding issue
DSC05158.JPG
.
3 of the six cuts are 9's two cuts are zeros , and one is a #4 cut.
if you look at the keyway you can see the 9 cuts bottom out against the top of the warding, leaving no option but to attack the pins from the side, with a very thin pick.
as you can see this big lock somewhat dwarfs the S&G environmental lock
the keypins in this lock are stainless, and it carries no security pins, but was still a pretty tough pick....

(one very camera-shy lock ,for a master, but i will nail it on cam soon.)

I actually seen one of these in a hardware store somewhere. I noticed it because it was an oddity, you don't see them very often, I actually only seen one other one, and it was in a locksmith shop.

very true...they are discontinued, and most to be found now are display models w/o keys,as was the case here.

i got one. Found it with key broke off , and made a new one. When i put in the code for your master lock i came up with cuts 0 3 7 7 2 7 bow to tip. Am i wrong? Looks about right to me.

Very cool lock. Reminds me I'm due for a video. I've been lazy.

0.19 is the reading i get on the deepest three cuts....?
and, yes, my mistake thinking masters had more than 7 depths....

just got one of these for myself. they are no joke! the bottom of the keypins touch the warding and there is almost no access to them because of the way the keyway is designed. this is definitely a challenge!

But will it blend?

I cant wait to get mine and stick it in the back of the closet so that there will be no temptation to see if it is "Tough under fire" ;)
