Man, people just get dumber and dumber every day. Canada is trying for something kind of like this as well.

But if you cannot lie on the internet, does that not infringe upon your freedom of speech?

Re: You are under arrest.....

I saw this coming in 1999 back when you could send mass-phishing emails to AOL users and then log on their account and talk to all their friends.

Allow me to put on my Nostradamus cap:

- I see international online IDs using either PKI or some other technology being stored in a globalized online database and used for all online interactions.

- I even see IP addresses (IPv6) tied to your identity.

- I see Facebook/Google/Youtube merging databases publically (I believe this is being done behind the scene) and mandatory accounts created automatically for newborn citizens. All of your online searches are tracked to your ID card and facebook account. Think about it... right now we have all of these independent non-related companies and their massive online databases housing personal information. The only thing linking these together to one person is the person themself. The next step in the evolution of the internet would be to force this connection.

- I see the evolution of realtime data profiling as seen in the movie Eagle-eye. This shit is NOT science fiction. Data processing and realtime analysis is extremely far evolved and we are way more than capable of developing a system that will automatically profile financial transactions, google searches, facebook posts, etc etc and flag someone as a potential threat. Example... I go to a store and buy gasoline, then I go online and buy a bunch of styrofoam... I google search for bomb making or something to that effect and now I'm triggered as a potential terrorist. Or another example is I buy 300 pounds of roofing nails with my debt card, then I buy 700 feet of metal piping... and some form of explosive... it isn't hard to see what I'm up to. You could even argue that I'm redoing my house and doing some plumbing. Good one. To paralell this, one cutting edge piece of technology are Heuristic antivirus scanners which determine the statistical probability that a piece of software is malicious. These same generic algorithms can be easily adapted to fit terrorism or suspicious behavior. Slap them onto a large supercomputer array and run them in realtime and you've got yourself the movie Eagle Eye. Banks do this all the time... someone gets your card info and spends $10 in australia and your card is shut off due to an automatically tripped computer detection. It wouldn't even be difficult to do trend mapping and analysis on thousands of people as one group within an area... if 10 people out of 1000 people in one geographical region all follow a similar unique trend of buying hazardous or terrorism-related materials they could easily be flagged as a cell. This is probably how AI will evolve, out of a super large differential pattern analysis system like this. Oh and how advertisers would just cut their balls off for a piece of this information. I'm pretty sure the data would be sold to marketing companies to craft targetted advertisements delivered right to your mobile phone based on your purchase history and geographic location. I could go on and on and on and on.

Are you scared yet? Consider the following scenario:

We're close to being able to do instant DNA analysis by feeding DNA samples through a sheet of nano-graphene paper. So you're born, your DNA is recorded into a database, you get a Facebook account, an IPv6 IP address, a plastic ID card with CAC technology storing your PKI certificates which can be revoked (lol). Insurance companies automatically generate a policy based on your DNA analysis and all of the statistics of your chances at living a healthy life. You get a bank account tied to this information. Now, you fuck up once, they can shut your card off, revoke your PKI certificate, shut off your IP address... with the push of a button, instantly... in real time... for any reason. The only thing left to do is to install an RJ-45 port into the side or your head and plug you into a Cisco router. Everything you do would be tracked into a database and analysed in real time. Stores would stop taking paper cash... if you fall off the grid you'll need to grow your own food. And thus the endless battle of good vs evil continues. Oh and I forgot to mention the possibility of controlled reproduction where only sperm/egg combinations passing a certain threshhold of healthiness and productivity probabilities would be allowed to live. This is starting to sound like the movie THX1138.

Just follow the trend... it leads to a very dark place.

Re: You are under arrest.....

I rarely use a real name online, its just bad news and really its up to me whether i disclose my identity to the millions out there.
Im pretty sure at some point that freedom will be taken away just like most things do.
The world is definitely heading towards a Big Brother style control.
Thing is it happens so slowly nobody will ever notice or even care, we dont live long enough to see the big picture.
Its all in the name of security and safety.... my arse.

Well said xeo... I try not to think about it too much anymore, it's too stressful for something that I have no fucking control over.

Re: You are under arrest.....

Here in Finland they have proposed to control road tolls with satellites.
This would mean that every car has a tracking device similiar to GPS, and the "road taxes" would be determined by the mileage and where you drive your car. As a bonus they could send a speeding ticket if anyone ever is speeding, anywhere, anytime.
