London Hatton Garden vault break in.

Just wondering what others think about this recent raid, drilling through 7 feet of concrete, London police ignored alarm call.
Insider knowledge by the look of it and a team that new what they were doing. £60M taken.

Well done bitbuster, that's the most detailed info on the vault I've seen.

I find the drilling through 7 feet of reinforced concrete in less than a week hard to understand.

The exact amount they got away with might never be known. I think any numbers you may read will just be estimates (guesses).

While I don't condone this of course, it was pretty impressive.

(^Understatement.)

More info....
The men entered the building in London's jewellery quarter first on the Thursday evening before the Easter weekend and working through the night, then returning on Saturday and working overnight again to complete the job.
They identified three men, called Males A, B and C, and a white van they are believed to have used.
There was no sign of forced entry to the outside of the building, police said.
The gangs had disabled the communal lift on the second floor and then used the lift shaft to climb down into the basement.
They then made their way to the vault, where they used a heavy duty drill - a Hilti DD350 - to bore holes into the two-metre, re-enforced concrete vault wall.
They stole from 72 deposit boxes.
Detective chief inspector Paul Johnson said the CCTV images showed the suspects using a side door to make their way to and from the premises.
"They were highly audacious entering on two occasions over that weekend, firstly on Thursday April 2 at 20.19 before leaving the following morning at approximately 08.12," he said.
"They then returned over a day later on Saturday, April 4 at approx 22.17 before leaving the following morning at approximately 06.44.
"This footage, along with other material, was already recovered by police at the earliest opportunity, and continues to be evaluated to capture the precise movements of the suspects."

man, sounds almost too easy.

How did they cut two-metre wall? With this tool it is impossible.

1.Insider information
2. Improper design of alarm system. Or old alarm system.

Re: London Hatton Garden vault break in.

The Hilti DD350 is the only tool that's been named so far.

I'm sure they had inside information.

The alarm was ignored by the police! You've gotta have some luck to get away with something like this, and that was theirs.

On page 3 of the antique locks link, there's a post by safeman. In it, he says, ''It will not be surprising to learn that the 2 meter figure mentioned includes the foundation structure against which the concrete is poured.'' Can somebody explain what that means exactly?

Such companies do not use private security company to guard their buildings in UK?
Normal alarm system will inform the guard and owner what zone is alarmed.CCTV cameras would be inside vault too.

I think they cut the hole thru ceiling of the vault. Walls and floor have two meter thick total with fundamental concrete. Ceiling has 30-40 см,I think

No mention of a private security firm. The thing is, Hatton Garden is just north-east of the centre of London. As the crow flies, it's about a mile and a half from Trafalgar Square. This isn't some industrial estate on the edge of town.

Some CCTV footage has been released: http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-london-32263174

Ha ha, you answered too quick! I had some trouble editing that post. Hopefully it makes more sense now.

Regarding what you said about drilling through the ceiling, well, if that turns out to be the case, then I could understand it. That hasn't been said though. They're still saying it's 2 metres of concrete, which just seems incredible.

Thank you for description!

I think released video has been taken from neighbor building CCTV system.

I think police does not tell the detail information. Journalists take information about 2 meter wall from advertisement of that vault for instance .
To make the hole trough 2m concrete -needs some kind miners

After Snow White left, the Seven Dwarves went to the bad, and started hiring themselves out to local villains.
