Krull, I think we do not have to create all these sections, subsections and subsubsections right now. It is probably fine to create them one after the other when you have created a significant number of posts about a topic. You could start with safe construction methods, because I want to learn more about this.

I might have misread this, I took it as suggestions to change this site, after reading martins post it could be for a new forum, apologies if I read it wrong.

A good structure is helpful, but a structure needs posts. With the detail level of your structure most sections will be empty.

It sounded good on paper. This site by far in my opinion is the best one out there. Some of the members are top notch and if some one is serious and needs advice this it the forum. The no#1 thank you for your time

I for one appreciate your enthusiasm! Sure, it might be a bit overzealous...
but reaching for the stars hoping to get at least part way there never hurts.

It helps encourage us all to do more reading, writing, & research!

As to what/when sub-forums should be created; admins & mods would know best.
I suppose you either create them when a sufficient amount of info warrants it. Or,
they're created in hopes that it will prompt the contributions needed to fill 'em out.

Aye, that is indeed one of the motivations. Encouraging research and discovery.
I noticed the forum has an isolated section on impressioning. Something of a lost art
in our industry but still a very interesting topic.

I was at a friends shop today and we were discussing how many locksmiths no longer
use impressioning and how many of them have stepped away from automotive work as well.

Industries change, time influences how industries respond to challenges.

It's interesting here... I've noticed that subjects tend to run in waves. Lately there seems to be a lot of talk about manipulation, tho it's fading into random banter recently... last year there was a pretty long run on impressioning where not much else was talked about, before that there was a focus on high-security lock picking, and before that it was nothing but posts about lever locks... maybe it's just me, but that's at least how it appears to go around here. I'm guessing it's as simple as someone will post something interesting about a specific subject that's not being talked about and I think maybe it sparks everyone's curiosity and everyone digs into it and we all end up talking about that one subject for a while until the next curious subject pops up...
Having run a forum or two myself, the truth of the matter is you can never really organize posts into topics and subtopics in a way that will hold up for all that long... I think this site has done fairly well, but threads tend to tangent and posts lead to discussions about other things that no longer fit into the original topic. I think the more you try to break it into finer subtopics, the less you'll find you're able to keep things where they "belong." YMMV... depends on how much time you want to spend shuffling posts around
