So you have your topic created and you want to add pictures. I'll try here to help you with that. For this tutorial I'm going to focus on using the upload tool offered by the site rather than posting using Imgur or Photobucket. If you want help with Imgur feel free to ask but I'm not familiar with the other sites so I probably couldn't help you much here. You will probably have to click the images below to see them as they came out rather small. Pro-tip: Mousewheel click to open them in a new tab so you don't have to keep clicking back to get to the post again.

At the bottom of the screen you will see 3 tabs. Click on the one titled "Upload attachment."
It should look like this:

1.jpg

Now you will need to select which file to upload. In my example it is a screencap I took for this and placed in a subfolder under My Pictures. You will need to be able to find your picture on your computer for this part.

2.jpg

You should now see the file added to the bottom of the thread. Almost done!

Here is an example of adding captions to pictures.

Now click on your post where you want to put your picture. Click on "Place inline" and it will add the BBCode to display your image there. It should look like this (note my file name was 1.jpg but yours will be whatever you named it).

5.jpg

Now your picture will be in your post! Preview helps a lot when you're adding multiple photos or even just to check that you're still doing it right. Here you can see a screencap of the preview to my post after uploading my first image. The rest of my images were added by simply repeating the process.

Feel free to ask if you have any questions about the process, I'll be more than happy to help.

EDIT: I just noticed the sub is specifically for lockpicking tutorials. Sorry if this is the wrong place for this. If you feel like it will help I can put this somewhere else.

Thanks for making this tutorial! We'll figure out the best place to move it, and probably turn it into a sticky.

We still have plenty of server space, so as a general rule, we like to have pictures uploaded to the thread. That way when the thread gets old, we don't have to worry about losing good quality content from broken picture links as people let their photo hosting accounts expire down the road.

The exception being copyrighted pictures for which you do not hold the copyright. Please avoid uploading any such pictures directly to your threads. Only upload pictures that you took yourself, or that you otherwise have the rights to repost.

Thank you you are so nice to have taken the time to do this tutorial. I think I was having problems because I was trying to up load from my photo gallery .I guess I can't do that? I used my file manager and it worked fine. I don't know. What I do no is that you posted clear and concise instructions and you taught me how to use the forum thank you. Funny I came on here to learn how to pick locks and Im learning about computers.

Wonderful 'walk-through' that will surely benefit many.

Actually, the easier it is for people to post their pics... the more we ALL benefit.

LOCKPORN!! :)

Thanks so much for takin' the time to put this together Andrew. Great contribution.

Yeah, I've ran into that a couple times already. Looking at you kokomo! :P

You can as long as it's one at a time and you used the [ img ] tag, but as MBI said it's preferred you just upload to the site using the method I described above.

I certainly hope so too. It sucks having to go offsite to find something you're looking for when you know it's been done here. We'll get there eventually though.

Thanks so much for the kind words, I do hope this is helpful. If you have any suggestions on improving it please say so. I was worried it wouldn't be clear enough as I had to go through and take all my screencaps before writing the descriptions. I probably should have highlighted specific areas in the pictures though, but hopefully they're cropped enough there isn't too much else adding to the scenery.
