ur one hell of a pick maker... it takes me 5 mins or longer to do 1... u did 3 in the same ammount of time...

besides, why would you true up the the wheel when it's got a nice little radius that fits the pick profile?

Well it still takes me awhile to finish them, and finishing is where all the homebrew goodness lies anyway. I used to sit around and burn them out by the dozen then pick the ones I like best to finish.

Where and how exactly is one supposed to go about getting street sweeper bristle inserts?

I went to two different tuning shops yesterday where they do oil changes and generally throw away the old wipers on the cars that come in, and neither of them had even a single wiper in the dumpster.

I understand what materials to use. I just don't know where to find them.

I also had someone link me to this site in chat for ordering steel, but I really don't want this shit showing up on my credit card history. Call me paranoid, but that's my preference. Anyway, I can't seem to find any place here in town that sells metal of this type to use for picks or tension wrenches.

There are many other alternatives to the Street Sweeper steel (although I found my first one last week :-)

)

Bicycle Spokes
Music Wire (got mine at Ace Hardware)
Wiper Blade inserts
Landscape Staples (http://www.harborfreight.com/50-piece-u ... 95161.html) - Have seen people make tension tools out of them.

Use a pre-paid credit card. They are usually sold as gift cards and they are single use. Buy one, place your order and then destroy it.

I understand the caution, but people other than lockpickers order from mcmaster-carr...mechanics, machinists, hobbyists etc.
