Violaetor's Custom Lockpicks and Display Cases

For my pics I use a custom ordered High tensile 301 SS with the basically the same properties as Southords Max line.

I haven't been making picks for the last while, but finally found the time here and there to get a little bit done. This isn't 100% complete but close enough that I'll post some pics.

The Case is made of Walnut.

The Pick handles are Purpleheart

Those are really great man. I especially like some of the smaller details like the texture of the wood you used and the hammered look of the rivets.

How beautiful is that!!? Thanks so much for sharing some pictures with us. Wonderful work Violaetor.... LOVE it!

And great choice of picks! That's quite an arsenal in that box. Really, there's not many locks that could withstand that selection :hbg:

Those look amazing man! You should make some to sell, I am sure people around the forum would love to have one.

Some time back someone made a comment that all you need is few pick to get the job done. Really they are right, that is all any of us need to open a lock. Everything else we have is because we are collectors. These are some of the best presentation pieces that I have seen and would love to add a set to my collection. Those would be a great conversation piece for my desk. It would be great to have some type of pimp tension tool to round out the collection. It seems nobody adds a pimp tension tool to these amazing pick sets that they make. Is there a reason for that? Either way extremely nice work. The case is even top notch. If you sell a set I may have to sell a kidney to get in on the auction.

I appreciate the handmade look of things myself, I enjoy the little 'imperfections' in crafted items... so that means a great deal to me.

Ya, those are my go to 3 and what I suggest to anyone just looking to get into picking.

I did make these with the intent to sell, but have a serious problem with not seeing the 'value' in what I make it feels strange trying to put a number on them... however start to finish picks to handles to the custom box and the little bit of finishing left, there is about 22 hours in there. My initial thought was $120 for the whole kit (which seems high to me, but is like slave labor when I look at the hours invested) + shipping (because we don't have those beautiful flat rate boxes in Canada :bird: )

I do also make ergonomic plastic handled picks as well which are less labor intensive, consequently less expensive. And I'm working on an aluminum model too.

$120 does seem like a lot of money for a pick. However that is more than just a pick, that is a work of art and fine craftsmanship. If I had the money to spend I would love to buy that set.

I like the pick with the plastic handle there. How much would one of those be?
