tension wrench with springs

hello every one i just wanted to show what i do with my tension wrenches, i normally use flat copper welding rods and stainless steel springs,
Image
insert as normal

i apply tension by pulling the other spring in that way the elasticity is double making it super feather touch, it works very well with an epg.

Re: tension wrench with springs

Nice job. But how do you feel for any feedback through the wrench?

Re: tension wrench with springs

lol my favorite wrench is one i made with a short 1/2" spring between the handle and the bend. You dont have to worry about feedback *SO* much because since there is spring tension on it and not HARD spring tension, if the plug turns backwards to set a pin, it will turn anyway and still maintain tension.
I'l put a pic on here soon of it.

Awesome.

Re: tension wrench with springs

Well, he did mention that it works really well with an epg, so, I don't think you're getting much feedback other than violent shaking anyway. But an interesting idea nonetheless.

Re: tension wrench with springs

Good Idea I like that you have springs of 2 different thicknesses on one wrench. That way you can choose the amount of tension being applied!
I see some of your wrenched are twist flex design. Does it make a difference when making your spring assisted wrenches?

Yeah, I was kind of wondering about the twist flex too, especially since copper is already so soft.

I don't know where he gets the springs, but the OP said that he was using flat copper welding sticks for stock.

Re: tension wrench with springs

Nice idea we must have the same dreams, i gave up as i thought adding the spring would lose all feel in the tension , im a sucker for the straight tension tool with half a twist.

Re: tension wrench with springs

uklockpicker... do you really get feedback when using a vibrator on a lock? It's a serious question that just sounds kinda funny... Time to break out the Steely Dan records and see if they can open locks...
