One from today.

Silky oak as the main wood, the darker wood is black walnut, with a layer of aluminium between them. It was an experiment with layering the aluminium, worked well. Made it a little harder to shape but well worth it I think.

Trying something very different. I cut up a piece of electronic circuit board, and cast it in clear resin.

I will try to inlay pieces of it into standard sized pick handles in a few days once the resin has fully hardened. Im expecting a bunch of problems, its pretty hard to cut cleanly which is my major concern at the moment. Also the resin is leftovers from a project several years ago so hopefully it sets properly.

(the dust is surface dust , inside the resin looks as clean as I could have hoped for)

Photo doesnt do justice, this thing looks really cool. Will take better pics.

Silky oak timber, used epoxy to hold it all together. Had to be really careful carving the handle shape, because the epoxy likes to chip and the electronics board was tough to grind away in some parts. Next time I will rough out the shape on bandsaw. Will definately do more like this, made a few mistakes making this one but pretty happy how it came out none the less.

Im finishing it with polyurethane, only put one coat on so far and its coming up really nice.

Bloody gorgeous. Love the PCB board idea in particular, as well as the layered/staggered design. Thanks for sharing. (:
