Old lever lock I.D. Opening help needed

well here's that old lever lock again, and this time there is an additional clue to its identity.
thought you all might like to see.,
i feel the levers inside,(well one at least.)
having a real hard time getting it open..
tried shimming, all over..under the latch, all thru various cracks and gaps in the lock body.
nothing...
i think i will have to find some old keys to fit this lock...
anyway, heres the lettering i uncovered..

that would be awesome, even if it didnt open the lock,if the key at least fit the keyhole,i could use it to impression.

Lever locks are truly a delight to impression. Very easy to get and see the marks. Highly recommended.

I suppose by "candling", you're referring to smoking the blank (that is, holding the blank in a flame to apply a coat of soot on it). Although this will work, it is not necessary with lever lock impressioning. If you just polish the edge that contacts the levers with a fine file or piece of emery, the marks will appear right on that edge as a line perpendicular to the bit. Just file straight down with a warding file enough to "erase" the line and repeat the process until you get no marks.
If I were more video-savvy, I would make you guys (I use the word "guys" generically) a few impressioning videos. Maybe someone in my area (you readin' this, Hallis?) can be my videographer...

indeed that is what i meant by candleing .
not necessary ?
cool...
video would be fantastic =)
i hope you can get your issues with video worked out...
any ideas for something to use as a blank?
i was thinking of sheet brass or copper, wrapped around the post, and soldered
in the "9" shape.
also any idea how to tell which way the key should turn?

This key blank, although no longer made, is still available. The key turns to the right to open. Try picking the lock...you may be pleasantly surprised.

Smoking would be advised for yourself ray. At least on your first blank.

Though I've never seen one of these locks, magician seems to know about them. Are they a simple detent lever and boltthrow?

Depending on how well you can use metal working tools such as a welder and drill, you could very well make your own keyblank.
