American Wafer breaker/bypass

Hey guys, got some questions-

-Does anyone know if there's a video out there explaining how to use the wafer breaker?

-why doesn't this work on key-retaining locks?

-is there a way to tell if it's a key retaining lock without the key? (I don't wanna break the tool)

-anyone got any homebrew versions of this?

Thanks, guys. really appreciate it.

I have been looking some into this too. Thedonofdeath has a video on YouTube talking about a homemade bypass tool made out of a metal hanger and showing homemade wafer breakers.

He might be able to answer some questions on it or perhaps make a video of his homemade wafer breaker in action.

Re: American Wafer breaker/bypass

They will not work on key retaining because key retaining locks have a half circle connection to the the plugs half circle conection making it a completle movement, where non-key retainint only have a quarter connecting in the back leaving it able to move 1/4 behind the plug.

I myself am intersted in making the wafer breakers, I have a couple steel key blanks, would these be strong enough to break them?

As far as your keyless 5200 is it stamped US? If so it is key retaining, if not it is not key retaining and they are almost always silver locks.

Or at least the dozen or so that i've seen are.

Re: American Wafer breaker/bypass

I don't think a steel blank would make any difference, it has to be longer than the key to be able to go in and break the wafer. Look at some pictures of the wafer breaker tool to get a better Idea. Then you will see what I mean.

Re: American Wafer breaker/bypass

Well he didn't say the steel key blanks he had were necessarily American blanks, so if they are are longer residential or commercial lock key, if filed down, and ground thinner and to shape, they could be used as wafer breakers.

True, never thought of that. Where did you get the steel blanks?
