Happy New Year Everyone I thought I would start the year off right and had the time today so here is a cutaway ;)

(I dropped key pin #4 on the shop 4 so for the time being the chamber is empty)

I like the style but I want to see key pin rotation.

AW, nice work. My only question, why not just mill straight slots from the center of the pins all the way instead of the offsets that you did?

Having the angle and taking out more material makes it easier to see the pins. It also allows more light in.

Very interesting cutaway A_w. Nice one.

I read somewhere once there's a reason those springs are wound like that, i.e. with the centre and end coils tight together. I can't remember why now. Any Medeco cognoscenti know?

I am guessing it helps prevent the spring from getting crushed from compression or helps prevent it getting caught on the shear line if a set of pins is short.

Thanks guys! ''Tangle Resistant Springs'' rings a bell. If I remember right, it's to stop a bag fulla springs - you got it - tangling up.

That is really quite nice. Was pleased to Snowyboy's response on your cutaways, AW.

yeah I was too, (with Snowyboy's response) I am Very happy with this lock as it stands now. (once I replace the missing pin it is done)

Now I just have to find my next lock to cut :akimbo:

all the medeco spring I have in this style are fatter in the middle so when you compress them they don't crush they almost telescope.
