Framon 2 Refurb from non functional to Brand New

Before Refurb
https://www.ebay.com/itm/203755085231

After ReBuild
https://www.ebay.com/itm/325012946000
-New wheel
-new belt
-stripped , new paint scheme, new stickers from framon also, added a sleeve for wiring and redid all wiring, disassembled motor was full of gunk and shavings once all cleaned up new wiring and new cord works like new,
Lots of pain and hours went into this build, I sometimes did too much with my wirst but feel it was worth it and kept me busy in recovery.

- first cut on key came out near perfect did a rough calibration with depth space key then measured and cut again after adjust, and second cut was perfect these are my absolute favorite machines so easy to use and so easy to calibrate.

Did this rebuild mainly one handed since I broke my wrist pretty bad during this one in 5 places. What do You guys think of the work, I also made a custom Laser cut board and custom 3d printed shaving catch to better gaurd from shaving jamming up the mill screws. This one I am proud of, think this one came out better than the last HPC 1200 and the first framon as well.

Holy smokes, that is one heck of a break. You went full send on it huh?

Great looking refurb, you could almost thing it was new unless you looked really close.

I'm not sure what's more impressive, the refurb or the nails in your bones!

I wish you a fast and full recovery.

Take care :)

First, good luck with your recovery. Be a good patient, it will pay off in the end. Now on to the Framon build....That looks awesome! Do you have an idea of how much expense you have in this build? I love these machines also. I have been using them for 40 years. My personal machine is about 30 years with me, and I did not purchase it new. It is still as accurate as new!

This Build I have
$ 250 in machine
$95 in shipping
$50 Wheel
maybe about 50-60 in stripper Evaporust and paint supplies
$44 in lumber
$5 in electrical suplies probably
$2 new C ring clips
EDIT: forgot about my order from framon for belt and stickers etc ( so maybe a little bit more)

Several hours of one handed work on dissassembly cleaning, and on design of 3d object for shaving catch, and trial and error etching burning logos into wood etc.
So Id say just under $500 all in but was good to keep me busy while recovering. all estimates off top of head plus minus a few bucks probably

Thanks @femurat I hope I regain some of my ROM right now wrist is pretty damn stiff with all this hardware. glad it was left hand and not right hand but still sucks.
Being in medical and typing a lot for work etc makes it difficult right now

I would like to see a pic of your shaving catch in action. I'm not visualizing how it works.
Again, awesome project!

Great job on this project! Love how it turned out. I have a lower leg and ankle that look like that hand. Just an FYI, after my physical therapy was done I went to a chiropractor and he was able to get me more ROM. But for me my leg was never the same. Good luck.

Re: Framon 2 Refurb from non functional to Brand New

Great job Dr. I still have not found a deal on one yet but still looking. I have almost finished my overhaul of my F-B 200 machine. Made the digital space set up and it works well. I am now working on a 3D print to hold digital readout of depth and i am thinking about changing to a stronger motor. Keeps me off the streets. Let me know if you want to part with your other Framon 2.

BTW I have a leg with 9 screws and 2 plates just below the knee. In my case it was my old clumsy ways but a lot of exercise and such made it useable again. Just do the work for about a year and you should get better. Hope it all goes well for you.

Steve

I am doing everything they are telling me right now so hopefully get function back as I stay active

As for the machines I am keeping 1 Framon and 1 ilco and a duplicator the rest I am selling
So will be listing the ilco so haven’t decided with code cards or not yet my last hpc i sold with only micrometer cards for 1200 so we will see
The framon is listed right now on eBay already search Framon or see link above
The foley belsaws i am gonna customize a mounting plate etc for and list soon when time allows
I need to find a spare motor for my antique machine to get it going soon too

It’s a. Nice hobby bringing life to old tired items and pays for its self
