Day 354 of 366. An old lockout lock for lever or warded locks. It's supposed to prevent the users from inserting their keys in the lever lock, by blocking the keyhole. It also protect it from picks.

It was a different and interesting experience. There is very little space in the keyway. I had to use my tiniest pick and wrench. It's very easy to overset a pin. It's difficult to realise how small it is. The lock diameter is just 6 mm (just over 1/4 inch).

A huge thanks to stratmando for this nice lock!

Cheers :)

Don't let your family know about that :) Looks like you cannot pick it from the "cam" side of they use it against you...

You're right edocdab, the other side is closed so not pickable. So if you're on the wrong side of the door, you're screwed.

Day 356 of 366. An oval CARBINE with a pretty thin keyway. Luckily I have a fitting half diamond.

Thanks again to kilae for this nice lock!

Cheers :)

I'm counting the days and will try to resist till the end of the year! When you think that you've already done it, you screw up.
What's a T-10?

Kudos, I hate that thing. Very much like Chubb's version of the Ava in that it's built like a bulldozer and is massively fault tolerant and antifragile. But it feels horrible to manipulate.

Countdown, like in rocket launches. Next up:T-9

That's a cool lock that doesn't look or sound picker friendly :)

Re: Happy 2020! A lock a day keeps the doctor away

Thanks MHM, I learned a couple tricks with these locks. First off all the pins in the back. Just touch them and they're set.
This one didn't need much work on the left side, since all the sliders were low and almost already set in the resting position.
Once I got four sliders on the right, the last one felt blocked. I put the lock vertical under a good lamp and released tension. Then was able to move it again and as soon as I touched it the lock was open.

Silly me, edocdab. I should have known.

Day 358 of 366. I like that long key so much, I bought one similar lock. My longest pick reaches the first six or seven pins. I had to use a tension wrench handle to reach the last one or two.
Also, the plug is split and I used a very long BOK tension wrench to turn both the pieces at the same time.

Cheers :)

We cannot blame you as that is a very nice key and lock. First time I hear of a split core. Can you explain a bit more about how it is split and the parts interact?

Looking forward to T-8!

Re: Happy 2020! A lock a day keeps the doctor away

I haven't disassembled it yet, edocdab. I've been told it's like the antisnap function. You have to turn it all together, the outer part is disconnected from the inner part. Dunno for sure.

Day 359 of 366. Evva, sold by Mottura here. Merry Christmas everyone!
