Looking at the key and the keyway

the second cut appears to just less than half the keyblade in depth,

there are some nasty wards in that keyway, but the two worst are below the line of deepest pin depth,

the first, third and forth pins are probably the same depth, and five and six are probably the shortest pins,

if you can work from the back of the lock and set the 6 5 4 and 3, then 2 may even be left where it is and the first pin is easy to see

where to set it.

Got distracted and forgot to share some of the additions to my lock collection. Some of these I've had around for a few weeks, and I've only now got a camera out to take some pics.

Medeco Classic LFIC
This one seems to be a lock that doesn't come up often judging by some of the reactions I got on the chat board when I snagged it. Love those keys. Control key on the left and Op key on the right.

Vachette AXI Home and another of the key
Another piece of French uniqueness, with it's gorgeous three-dimensional key. I don't know of any other cylinders that opt for this type of design. 15 possible pins on 3 axis. Vachette is the market leader in France, and the AXI Home is aimed at high-end residential doors. Certified as A2P 1-star. Really gotta find a way of tensioning this monkey without obscuring the keyway. Medeco Military KiK
Made to be fitted in the Sargent and Greenleaf 833 and 951 padlocks, which are presently issued to the US Army etc to secure munitions. These padlocks are a whole subject on themselves (variants, government only issued restrictive keyways etc, etc) and unfortunately I don't have one.

Amercian 3800 Series padlock with Bilock NG KiK
I couldn't resist this one. I got them separate and they were just calling out to be married. One tough puppy. Keyway here.

Fontaine Push Lock
This is the second one in my collection, but with 4 pins rather than 7. It's working on the same principles as a tubular, but made to withstand a lot more punishment. Another unique French lock that can still be found in use. Here's another of the key.

I just gotta show you this cos I'm totally stoked I bagged this bad boy. It might not much to some folk, but I'm so damned happy I've bagged it.

I've been after a KASP 190 Series padlock for ever and a day after I just loved picking a 180 Series. And I just couldn't stop myself drooling over the K19070XD version since it's such a bloody monster.

The thing is that the K19070XD is a butt clenching £70-ish new, so I just couldn't bring myself to do it. That is until I bagged one (new) just before Xmas on the Bay for £35. My mouse finger went through one of it's feck-it moments

That's a 1.5Kg (3.3lb) 6 pin paracentric CEN Grade 6 (and a few mushies in that I believe). And it's shiny! I mean; who can resist?!?! When Mr. Postie dropped it through and I heard it hit the deck, I really thought I had a dent out of the wood floor.

Just wanted to share even if it's more than a bit old school. I am one very happy bunny today.

Now to pick this beast

No doubt, many of you guys on the other side of the pond have not heard much of Kasp Security. They're a UK company closely linked to Abus until they fell out with each other in around 2005.

Never seen one, that is a very cool looking lock.
Shackle looks huge, angled sides is has an Art Deco look.

What a beautiful lock! I'm a true sucker for shrouded Congrats on finally gettin' one.

Reminds me of how I wanted an American 747 so bad, but couldn't justify the price tag.
One after another slipped by me with impunity, lol, as I watched patiently on ebay.
Seemed so long. Felt so good when I finally got one though! I'm happy for ya!

It's been more than awhile since I got some pics together of additions to my collection. I was havin trouble thinking about catching up, never mind actually doing it.

Plus, I got way past the free limit on Imgur, so I decided to move everything since I didn't want to pay for a Pro account, which was a bitch since I had to also transfer the descriptions I'd put on most of the locks. I thought about Photobucket, but I couldn't set things up how I wanted it.

Then the result was just all so cumbersome in one folder so I sorted everything out into 5 categories.

The Padlock Collection
The French Collection
The North American Collection
The Scandinavian Collection
The Everything Else Collection

Thankfully it's all done now (and hopefully won't happen again in this lifetime). There are too many additions to the collection to remember right now. I'll just leave it for you to check out, if you're into it.

I love the way you've set it up.... and I love looking over them all.
