English Banbury locks 18th-19 Century earliest known lever lock used !

all parts where fitted to a wooden stock and would have used a large wire bow cast iron key

English Banbury Dove tail plate stock lock used in 19th century !

both added to collection I am happy to say !

no keys ...but it will be fun trying to find the originals or near to original as possible :razz:

for Banbury locks used in the mid 19th Century with the horizontal plates that came later

Still being made as late as the 1960's

next to impossible to date unless of really fine quality so approach with great caution.

The progression and lock plate design changes over the years are the way to go...at least it was for me ! and found it a very interesting study
