Omni Card 21- Bicycle Lock with a key card! (Pics+ Video)

Hey Guys,

I found this very unique cable lock that was made in Japan. I was told that is was about 30 years old.

I love the fun/futuristic design this thing has. I also like the fact that you can carry the key in your wallet instead of a key chain. Looks very similar to a hotel card lock, except it is all mechanical.

You guys ever see a mechanical lock like this before? Any idea how you could "hack it"/Pick it?

Definitely a great addition to a lock collection!

There was another type of lock like this called a Card Lock. Only seen 1 or 2 of them before.

Riy beat me to it! I have a lock very similar to Riy's, mine has black and yellow cards though. I've heard they are popular with visually impaired people, as it's easy for them to operate.

Edit: other than the sticker on the lock, and the design of the cards, the one Riy has is identical to mine. It works by using pins that fit in those holes on the card, the larger the hole, the further the pin goes in. There are even 2 pins on mine that don't have matching holes on the card. I figure these plastic pins have shear lines like any standard pin tumbler, and once aligned, the mechanism inside slides over, releasing the shackle.

Oh wow! Cool!

Does that lock have a button you have to press?
