Just received these two locks today from Marduk28:

Forever Cable Lock (will do a writeup later on the lock)

and a Panzer padlock with both normal and dimple cuts on the key. :mrgreem:

Interesting that it only has one ward, and that on one side, of the key.

The dimple cuts lie up exactly with the normal cuts, making this much tougher to pick. Especially with that dimple cut that is deep enough to cut through the entire key!

For anyone who is Curious:

I found out that the design for the Panzer lock was Patented in 1984!

Here is the original schematic drawing:

dimple cut blocking common pin tumbler ..... this would require a pick that reaches through the spaceing between dimples to reach the bottom pin in that common tumbler space,
this means that a special pick would be needed. Thin and hardened, and handled by someone who knows what its for.
For every new lock a pick can be made if the common picksets do not apply.

Panzer Bump key?
Just thinking out-loud.
I don't know if it would work or be possible,.......but looks like you have couple spare keys you could modify.
Yeah, I would hate to ruin a original key also.
Just Thinking.

If there is enough clearance, it looks like the padlock does not use a ball bearing to lock the shackle & could be shimmed, or possibly opened by attacking the locking mechanism through the keyway. With a locking dog on only one side of the shackle, a rapping attack might also succeed.

That said, it's still a *lovely* lock!!
