"Lily Water" Padlock (Buddhist themed lock!)

Hey Guys,

Check this thing out!

I found this padlock the other day and just had to get one! It's a padlock with a Buddhist theme!

It has a logo of a lily flower and the keyway is in the shape of a traditional Buddhist swastika.

Here is a link to the wikipedia page talking about the symbol's use in several different religions and cultures around the world if interested: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swastika

It has a ball bearing holding the shackle in place and it is actually pretty frustrating to try and pick. It looks like a wide open Keyway, but figuring out where to put the tension wrench and trying to maneuver the pick to the back pins is an interesting challenge.

The shackle is not spring loaded and the cylinder has almost no play to it~ making it hard to tell how much tension you actually have on the thing.

The key has 7 dimple cuts on it, but I count 10 pins in the cylinder.

EDIT: I forgot to mention this is also Key retaining.

There was actually a lock that used the EXACT symbol instead of the curved fan like shape of this one. It was coined the "Swatstilock"

Yeah, these are so unique, I love it!

I bought one 40MM for myself, and one 30MM to give as a gift.

The shop owner told me she only has a couple more (I think one 50 MM and the others either 30 or 40), but she also told me that they don't make these anymore and once she sells them all they wont have anymore in stock!

Not sure how old these locks are but they work very smoothly and feel very dense and heavy in the hand.

I can try to check with the shop keep to see how many she has left~ Maybe I should just buy up the stock.

Re: "Lily Water" Padlock (Buddhist themed lock!)

I freaking finally got one picked!!

I was so close to giving up for the night because my hand was aching pretty hard (This thing needs pretty strong tension) when I got a very slight cylinder turn. At that point I was like "there is no damn way I can stop now"!

The interesting thing is that mid-picking you got to do a tension wrench switch because it will always be blocking some pins. So you got to kind of stick another wrench in the other side of the lock and transfer the tension to that and let the original one fall out. ( Had to do this a couple of times actually while searching for binders)

Definitely a fun and satisfying pick!!

Cool! The Chinese have been very flamboyant in their keyway designs.

Re: "Lily Water" Padlock (Buddhist themed lock!)

Hey Guys,

Just FYI in case anyone is interested:

The good news is I was able to find a handful more of these at the shop.

The bad news I stopped at the post office to ask about shipping one from Taiwan to the USA and its pretty expensive. (~ $12 USD)

If anyone is interested in buying one now (even with the high international shipping) PM me and we can work something out.

I will be visiting the USA this summer around July which will allow me to ship at a lower cost. So I guess I can always make a new post in the "Buy/Sell/Trade" section when I arrive for my visit this summer.

Marduk, I'de like to get one from you, but you never gave a price on the lock itself. How much for the large one with shipping? Thanks, Mark

Re: "Lily Water" Padlock (Buddhist themed lock!)

Hi Guys,

I have been getting a lot of interest for these locks and have been on a man hunt to find as many as I can! Even in Taiwan these are a bitch to find! I have no clue how many are floating around.

With the help of some friends here I was able to request some be sent in from another shop to my area so hopefully I should have access to a couple 40 mm and a couple 45 mm sometime soon.

I was told that there is a big hefty 16 pin version ( 57 mm/ 540 gram) of this lock floating around and I am determined to get at least one for my collection! If I was able to hunt some down would any of you be interested in the big version? The price would probably be in the range of $60-70, but I am not sure how many I will be able to find. If there is interest for that lock I can try to put some effort into finding as many as I can.

When I get the new shipment in I will make a new post In the Buy/Sell section to outline exactly what I have.

Thanks for your interest guys and sorry for any delays! I hope I can find enough to keep for my collection as well as add to yours!
