Old Mastercraft lock

Got this from yet another swap-out.
I've picked it a few times, nothing special really. Anyone have an idea on how old it is?

Don't think I've ever seen one. Did you feel any security pins when you were pickin'?

Re: Old Mastercraft lock

Nope, nothing! It gave weird feedback. Likely due to it's age, but no security pins as far as I could tell.

Re: Old Mastercraft lock

Since you're in Hamilton, I'm guessing it's the Mastercraft of Canadian Tire. Before Big Box Stores they had a wider variety of house brands. I'm around 90% that I've seen mastecraft deadlock or two on the back doors of some houses.

Like the tools, they would outsourse and then stamp Mastercraft on the products. In your case literally. The letters are not branded and look almost punched invidually, or like they were held in a jig. You probably knew that.

I seem to remember the Key bow being a sort of clover design. Like a Corbin, The key would have had CCL in an oval. Dominion Lock Corp also had a place in Montreal. they also used a key with a clover bow. Back then even generic blanks were made with bows to match the keys they were meant for. If the key bow isn't a clover then it's a perfect disk. but it's would be from a Canadian MFG from back in the day. Those are the only two that come to mind.

Good luck.
