Re: New Gulsham

They are actually not old padlocks and are being made today. IIRC that one is a small button made in one of the letters that you have to push in to get the cover to pop up. I believe that Lee Valley used to sell that exact model but do not seem to carry it any more.

Here are a few others. http://www.puzzlemaster.ca/browse/wire/locks/

Re: New Gulshan

Never said it was old, but it is unusual. Not rare by any means..lol, I thought it'd be a cool post. Yeah I found the button in the '8' a couple days after I got it. Lol

Thanks for the info, from what I've seen on ebay, that's exactly where it came from (lee valley)

Re: New Gulshan

That's neat. Never seen one. So, the key will not work in the visible keyhole, only the hidden one?

Re: New Gulshan

On the topic of trick/puzzle locks... some time ago, I received one of these from mister sour.

I have to admit, I'm not all to bright when it comes to thinking outside the box, lol...
so it did take me a while. But I eventually got it. I think I sent it off to Bosnianbill.

Has anyone ever seen one of these before? Supposedly it opens with a magnet.

Yup, there is a long bar that has magnets in it that goes on the side. Simple N/S magnets. There are a varying number of them in different positions that get pushed or pulled into the right spot when the right key is applied. One of the faces should pop out if you give it a few good blows with a rawhide mallet.
