Strange padlock

Here are my latest padlock purchases. I'm not a collector who specializes in just one type of padlock. If I see a different or interesting (to me anyway) padlock, I get pretty excited. I hope you all enjoy these as much as I do. Mark

The first one is a lever lock with a slotted split barrell key

The second one is a push key with a curved key. You insert the key in the bottom and push it in like a scoop.

Here's a cute little lock. It's a push key lock with a twist. It's an aluminum body lock with aluminum keys. The shackle and the pins in the lock body as well as the key are made of steel. You simply push the pinned key into the pinned side of the lock body which in turn releases the shackle opening the lock. The lock is of European origin and probably from the early 1930's. Mark

I find locks at all kinds of places. I pick some up on ebay, but I buy a lot at flea markets and antique shops. I've got a lot of friends who know I'm into locks and will pick them up for me, which can be good and bad. Here's a couple more locks. The first is called a Cyclops. It's not overly old, but it's a pretty hefty lock with a unique key and locking system.

This next lock is a Cleveland 4 way lock. It has the cross key that only goes in one way. All sides of the key are cut different.

Those are nice locks. I gave the one I had to someone a while back. It had a nice solid POP when it opened.
Some of them can go for a fairly high price. There's some nice ones in this collection http://restraintsblog.blogspot.com/2009 ... locks.html
