I dont think this is too particularly old... but its unusual for sure... conisdering there is only 1 in the world...

All i know is that S&G made one to combat the X-0 series for a gov bid... and lost because the X-0 locks dont take batteries. So they ddnt make any more...

Just curious, but what prompted you post about this safe lock? It's cool as hell, but without the context of why you posted about it, this thread seems kinda vague.

That's a real nice collector's item~~~

I stumbled on a US Patent that looks very much like the design of this lock. Some experts can further delve on it

They only made one? Even for prototypes companies usually knock out more than one, back ups in case the first one fucks up etc.
Nice lock, how much did you snag it for? I figure since it's the only one in the world it can't have been cheap.

it is odd and unusual :)
the thread was about the pictures... i wanted somewhere public to put em so people could look up info. i coulda put it in the safe lock section... but i dont see how it will ever help anyone looking in the safe lock section for help, i could have also done lock porn since its just pictures... but i ddnt... if it gets moved thats fine.

i was told from a reliable source (the guy i got it from) that it was the only one. i got it in a large trade ;)

thanks for this, i even followed the patent on the back of the lock... and it was just an S&G patent for a normal combo lock :( appearantly they use the same badk piece as another lock (with a milled out section above the motor)

yes, ive had it for quite awhile now... i got it with no combo, it had a bad combo wrote on top 74-26-24 not only is that a bad combo, it didnt work the lock... so i decoded it but still havnt decoded the push button combo (trial and error) sooo if anyone knows a 4 digit combo that S&G uses... id appreciate it lol.

Does this operate like an 8550 MP? The guts look identical except for all the electronics. Does the dial depress an 1/8" of an inch if pressed?

Pretty cool lock.

Do you have to enter a 4 digit combo then dial in your safe combo in order for the lock to operate? Curious as to how it operates. Are you sure its a 4 digit combo, most electronic locks are 6.

Great snag

it does operate just like an 8550, the dial does depredd 1/8th inch

you dont need to tenter the 4 digit combo to open the lock with the wheel combo, both open it independently...

im sure itsa 4 digit combo cause it gives the error sign at 4 digits :)
