Lock ID Help

Found this in a bin of old locks at the shop today and noticed a serrated keypin in the first chamber so I cleaned it up and made a key for it. No name, just an unusual mark, or logo on the front. All the keypins and drivers were serrated at one time, they have just worn away over the years. The key I found is an OL1 olympic but I don't think that is the lock manufacturer. Anyone ever seen anything like this or have any ideas on who made it??

Re: Lock ID Help

I asked the guys here. And the best we could come up with is maybe an old Sargent "U" keyway, maybe. But that's just a guess, we really don't know.

Re: Lock ID Help

Those pins remind me of Schroeder, made in Cincinnati. I don't recall their ever having any logo, however.

Re: Lock ID Help

I stumbled across this lock housing earlier today.

Image

Here is what I know. This was found in a General Lock box, item#ICT-7-26D-AR, Model: 7-pin IC Tapered mortise housing, Finish: Satin Chrome, Cam: Adams Rite. The description matches the lock so I have no reason to believe it isn't a General Lock. However that isn't General Locks current Trademark Logo.

Here is what we are guessing. The inventory person here thinks that General Lock first had this logo and was forced to change it. Probably because of it's similarity to the one in your picture (maybe, maybe not). Basically we still don't know the manufacturer of yours.

Mainly I just saw it and thought I would share.

Re: Lock ID Help

Your lock is made by Francis Keil and Son..here's a picture

It's hard to see, but it says FRANCIS KEIL & SON on the key

Re: Lock ID Help

No idea. It looks like it has an S in it or a 0, but I'm not sure. Some other info:
The factory was in the Bronx, NY
Francis Keil also designed a new type of key for the Corbin lock co. for "pocket" doors:
Corbin Key.jpg

It surprises me that his company is not more well-known, considering they were contracted by Corbin.
