old lock that was given to me

i guess a lot of people have been stamping these with death row inmate or winchester or something else see link http://home.southwind.net/~drcwks/reprospg2.html
mine isnt stamped with anything and seems to be abit smaller then the rest so im hoping that maybe it isnt a counterfeit.. but maybe these are indeed old locks and people are just trying to add placks to incrase their value.. anyways id still like to know what type of lock it is. here are my pics (sorry for them being so large)

Re: old lock that was given to me

Just to clarify, these locks are all in current production in India. As such the majority of them sold are brand new. Wholesale prices from a US importer (I cannot find the details anymore) were around $4 - $18 depending on size.

They can be challenging to pick because they are so poorly made & rough inside, or it will just fall open

Re: old lock that was given to me

Not distressed at all. Just hand made, with 19th century techniques (and probably equipment). There are some finer made locks available from India, but these and the ones with the spurious names are the bottom of the pile, cheapest of the cheap .........
