I recently got a Master #5 with a cut shackle, didn't think much of it until I saw the core, it was a reverse image of a m11 keyway found in the master 17s. Checked the master website, and it is a 4 pin "registered keyway" cylinder. Drilled the rivets and took the bottom plate loose, pulled the core then tried a m11 blank in the back of it. The key fit, I assume they just borached these in the opposite directions of the ones with a m11 keyway. I cut the bow off of a m11 blank, and soldered the tip end to a penny as a new key bow, and filed a key. Welded the shackle together with some 316ss filler too. I assume the proper key blank would be a MA3?
