Gordon, Very impressive. I do have one question though, Which way does the bit swing ? Does it swing out to the shaft end or swing in toward the bow?

Both ways. The first key I made (the aluminum one) only swung in towards the bow. That made it necessary to point the key (in the lock) straight up to get the flag to fold flat against the key shaft in order to remove the key. With this final model, the flag can fold eithe way, so as long as the flag is pointing down, the key can be removed normally.
