King Chinese Disc Detainer Safe Lock

This is a 9 disc Chinese safe lock. This is the firs one I have taken apart that has a spring loaded sidebar, spring is pushing the sidebar out away from the discs.

I use a pair of needle nose pliers to remove the spanner nut that holds the cage in place.

Here you can see the sidebar and sidebar slot on the left

As you can see the top disc misses the stop so no tensioning from the first disc

"special opening tool"... nice. Where did the tool come from?

Also - the Chinese characters on the lock: 大王: Big Wang. Just thought you should know.

Re: King Chinese Disc Detainer Safe Lock

So - picking this lock? Using a top tensioning tool wouldn't work would it? Maybe if the top was made as small as the pick bit then you could use the normal pick bit to tension on the 2nd disc. Unless the last disc is a number 6(?) cut and you cud use a top tesntioner then...

ONE of the discs has to drive it, which one? IF it's the 2nd disc (I find this most likely) then a bottom tensioning tool would also have to be adapted to skip past the 1st disc and latch onto the 2nd to tension it. Then when all the other discs are set you cud just rotate the 1st disc and it'll plop right in.
