Hello every one is there any chance that i can get a tubular key cut ?my father in law recently got a Harley motorcycle but it came with no keys to lock it up and instead of having to buy a whole new key switch i thought maybe i could just get another on made for it. I am in the proses of making one from a 380 bullet shell but im thinking it wont last to long since its pretty thin. if any one can help throw me a pm and maybe we can work something out thank you

Bullet shell tubular key sounds totally kick ass! If it is strong enough I would use that all the time, make a few!

You should be able to go into any Harley dealership with the VIN etc and order some keys if you want them to be actual keys. If they arent a special blank anybody with a tubular cutter can cut you some as long as you can decode the cuts on the key.

I have an HPC Duplicode. I can cut to code or duplicate. I can cut from a pick as well.

You could just buy your own tubular pick and pick the lock, yourself Then make a key from your .380 cases that matches the pick

i would get a duplicate but it was a custom build from scratch. I did decode it and have what i hope is the right cuts for it if they are i might have you make me a key mister sour if that's okay.

I would need a 1137 blank, correct? I have only used my duplicode a few times, so I will cut you a few keys to make sure I increase the probability of getting one right. Ive really only duplicated on it, so this is finally an opportunity to test the code depths and spacings.

Done this 40 years idea has been around forever old as the hills. Yes I'm old. It will work a few times as a temp key but should never be used as a daily key if it is a type of key that has a tang . Why you ask. It has no tang in the center that fits in the notch on the center post that is made to take the torque needed to operate a lock with any kind of spring or binding pressure on a tailpiece. Turning the lock using just the pins and not the center post may ruin the lock quickly. The other reasons are no tang hence no index on the shell for proper alignment to be inserted right. Plus has no tang to hold the shell down in the lock while it is being turned as to not have the lock re lock in wrong position. Looks cool but is a really bad idea to use in a real working lock on a vehicle of any lock in use IMO. For a lock on the bench as a demo it is great.
