That keyway brings to mind a question mark. Lol. As if to say, how are you even going to think about picking this? Great job as always, and good video of it too.

I don't want to ruin your thread but I just have to show you a picture of another picked ABUS TS 5000 :fullmoon:

Image

Now I just need a video.
But relax. I have figured I kind of cheated.
The TS 5000 I have sent you is a regular one.
Mine seems to be some kind of short version. It is just 25mm long on each side and only has 5 pins.
But otherwise it is a regular one.
And the blocking pin (the second one) is the first pin that has to be set.

What a great day!

Great Job ImSchatten360!!! How many of the side pins did you have to set? Do you know of any way for me to get mine apart??

It is kind of wierd.
The key has 2 dimples on each side.
But just the ones on the right side seem to matter.
On the left are also no balls in the keyway. Don't ask why.
But if you have picked the main pins the side pins are just push push open.
In the "High-security mechanical locks: an encyclopedic reference" you can see they are basically regular pins.

So far sadly no one was able to tell me how to take those locks apart.
I don't want to cut it open.

I just had a look at the other side of my lock and there are no active side pins.
After picking the 5 pins in a row it just opened.
It also has no drill protection on this side.
So I guess if you have a TS 5000 with both sides the same length ABUS just puts the side pins and the drilling protecting on one side (the outside).
So the inside is just an ABUS XP1.
Everyone is just saving money.

just to answer some questions brought up here...

yes there are only active pins on one side of the lock because thre is no room on the other side for the springs...
check the pix in my vid

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iUOyO32_B78

mine is the only one (so far) that i have seen that has active elements in BOTH sides... not just the outer side... i wonder why that is...
you can tell which side has active elements by looking at the top of the lock and seeing the drill protection... mine has drill protection on both of the sides (and indeed active elements, not just the drill protection) so idk whats up with that

sorry also had to add my success to this thread.

ive been looking at these before, reading up about the pasive pins and active pins.
it seems the active pins stay set if the key blank is not milled and fits the top half of the keyway.
The cuts or millings are for the pasive pins, stops the wrong key from entering the keyway.
so if a cut down key his used as a tention tool,it seems you wouldnot have a problem setting the active pins, and would just need to set the the pins like any other lock.
