Mosler safe question

This picture was sent to me by a locksmith in Florida. All that is known is that it's a Mosler. Luckily there is a combination and it works, but he's curious if anyone has a model number, specs etc.

Thanks!

Re: Mosler safe question

I can't find one like it in any of my books but I found it interesting that the hinges only had finials on the bottoms, not the tops. Cool old safe! Hopefully someone can provide some information.

only had finials on the bottoms, not the tops.

Is that so the doors can be lifted off for transportation (to reduce weight), the one I have the door can lift off in the open position but when locked the `bars` prevent the door coming off even if the hinges are cut off.

Re: Mosler safe question

Thanks Scudo.

It's interesting that your safe doesn't have them either. I knew the doors would lift off, but I thought that 'ornamental' finials might be installed.

Good to know.

Thanks!

Re: Mosler safe question

i doubt the door is designed to be removed. most of the time there is a pin and a ball barring inside the hinge and the ornamentals are removed to adjust the door up or down if it begins to drag. someone just lost the ornamental thingys. :)

Re: Mosler safe question

I don't think that's a Mosler. Mosler used hidden hinges, not surface mount hinges, and used handles that faced down instead of the thing with the nubs on the left and right that you'd retract the boltwork with. The hinges and casters and location of the handle and dial look like a J Baum, but the handle isn't flat on the face, and J Baum door corners were rounder like a Diebold. The handle looks more like the kind you'd find on an Herring Hall Marvin (HHM) Looking at some books here, the dial does look like a Hall's..

just my 2 cents

Re: Mosler safe question

Pretty sure it's a Halls. The door is removable and the two top finials are lost.

Re: Mosler safe question

The style of the bolt operating handle & the shape of the finials points more towards Herring-Hall-Marvin, than Halls.
