I picked up this old Sargent & Greenleaf lock. Does anyone know what model it is? I've heard mention the star index is an age indicator, but I have no idea what years it represents.

Unfortunately, the wheel pack only has two wheels in it. Someone threw some other lock parts under the wheels as spacers- a movable fly, and a hole change fly with a broken tab. I suspect the broken hole change fly (numbered "8", for which I will make another thread) was originally from this lock, and its breakage is why one wheel was removed. I don't suppose anyone knows where I can find a wheel and isolation washer (.5" ID) to make this lock complete?

spending spree NICE! Build that collection and enjoy each and
every one that arrives. I haven't purchased or mounted any locks
in some time.... but recently started ebaying again. Feels good!

I agree... S&G C85. Though only 2 wheels seems odd?
And yet, it looks like it loads the wheel post nicely, bringing
it all to a snug fit right up against the retaining ring. Hmmm.

I figure they changed from the star to the peace sign in the 1960s.

I haven't seen anything like it in my resources unfortunately I checked my 1956 catalog and the closes thing seems to be the 8100 series but those look like locker locks almost. In this catalog they have the "modern" locks as well as transition items and dials have the peace sign so they changed some time early to mid 1950s.
