Abandoned Diebold

This Diebold was on CL for about a month and was only 3 miles from me so I met with the owner. It was on the 10 acre property he bought and wanted the safe gone. Told him I would take the lock, dial, ring and handle but nothing else. I believe the lock is a Diebold/Eagle 161. It is missing the fence and lock bolt. The patent date on dial nose is May 26 or 28, 1871. I didn't know it at the time but Murphy showed up. The upper right lock case screw was being unruly and wouldn't budge. Came back the next day (without Murphy) and drilled out the screw. Had to grab on with a vise grip and slowly wiggle it free and off the safe. I wiggle a bit too hard and a corner piece a casting broke off. Also, busted a another bit. The dial ring has the feathered arrow as the dialing index and the words Left and Right to either side just in case the user forgets which way to turn.
