Identifying Milner 212 Strong Holdfast Safe?

Hey

A friend of mine picked up this beatifully decorated Milner safe and has been thinking of restoring it properly, as the paint has chipped in some areas and needs some love. The safe is with one original key and one duplicate.

Can someone identify from which year it is or is the year in the cast logo the actual year? I think it says either 1857 or 1887. I googled about these Milners and seems that the square corners puts it into that era and the lock is 7 levers and key has no letter stamped in it, so that checks out too.

It's just that I've never found a photo of a safe like my friends with the decorative 3D-trimmings on the door. If somebody can point to more information of this, would be very much appreciated :)

Serial number on the bow of the original key may help.

Wow, that's a very old one then :) Thank you for your time and input on the matter. Do you mind me asking how did you come up with the information, as I presume there is no book to just look it up? :D

Hi I have just been given a Milner safe from the local Bowls Club and they have no record of who donated it to the club so no history of it either. I'm wondering how I can find out more information about the date it was built. Can anyone help?
